Claire Herbert, RVT, KPA-CTP
Claire finished I both a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture in the field of Animal Science at The Ohio State University, and an Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology through Columbus State Community College in 2012. Her interest has always been in companion animal behavior and she has been driven in pursuing a VTS in Behavior. With very few opportunities for formal animal behavior education, she attended behavior conferences, read about behavior, and became involved in SVBT.
After graduation she accepted an RVT position at a general practice aiming to expand their behavior services. In that position she has been involved in: educating staff members in reading body language and low-stress handling techniques; introducing a behavior perspective to new puppy/kitten visits; conducting happy visits; and consulting on handling plans for fearful/fractious patients. She also worked to get the clinic certified as a Cat Friendly Practice through the American Associate of Feline Practitioners.
Claire completed the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Professional program in May 2013. She now owns her own training business, and offers private in-home sessions for problem prevention training, implementing previously prescribed behavior modification plans, and feline enrichment consultations.
Claire shares her home with my five cats Marian, Chester, Geoff, Phyllis, and Baby Cat, and her dog Henley.
